#18 - Flung

I've always liked this poem as a simple declaration of walking by faith; I've especially appreciated the ending which so briefly but so directly shows why walking by faith is not as foolish as it may seem...

Flung

Flung upon His mercy
Clinging to His hand,
You may call it reckless,
What you cannot understand—

Leaving worldly comforts
Walking all alone,
You may think it rash,
I’ve regarded it my home—

Launched upon the promise
His infinity—
You may see it foolish—
Here with God? How can it be?

I've seen this one before- you gave a copy of it to our family, I believe. I really appreciate it- especially since it's so applicable to where I personally, and our family in general are at. This adoption as one example- we've been told we're crazy by both non-Christians and Christians- but as you finish off, how can it possibly be foolish to be here with God?

Yep, this is the one. I was actually slightly reluctant to do so, because I didn't want you to read it the wrong way - since it is written from the POV of a believer to one who thinks that walking by faith is foolish, I just hoped you would read it from the correct POV (which it sounds like you did)... ;-)

I know it also helps as well to have people who are supporting you in your journey of faith - and I hope we've been that for you. Keep on walking by faith, as crazy as it may seem, and know that God is with you. If He is for you, who can be against you?

Yes, it is definitely encouraging to meet with those that are with you all the way on something- we've appreciated your encouragement.

Yeah, I feel like this a lot. People really do long at us like we're stupid, but who's really the fool in the end? God said we are aliens to this world. Serving Him is the greatest thing a person can do with their life.

Without a doubt! And when we do, without any thought of reward, He blesses us in so many ways...
