Echoes of a Longing Heart

It happens every time - "Each time a dream comes toppling down / I’m at the crossroads once again". So here I am again, Father. I beg You to use my life to change the world for Your glory!

Echoes of a Longing Heart

The echoes of a longing heart
Have whispered questions from the deep:
A desperate hunger to be used
To heal the hearts of those who weep;

Each time a dream comes toppling down
I’m at the crossroads once again;
Oh God, I beg you—use my life
For some great purpose in your plan—

The doubts have bruised my heart like rocks
And left me stumbling in the pain;
Why have you brought me to the ground
If not so someone else can gain?

The echoes of a longing heart
Are whispering questions from the deep:
I want so much to share Your love—
Oh God, what do you have for me?

I've lost count of how many times I've sank to my knees and asked God the very same thing . . . but God keeps working in my life. I don't know exactly what He'll do in the future, but He's given me a lot of talents, so for now, I'm concentrating on using them for His glory. He'll take me from there. It can be really frustrating, though, thinking God has something for you, then watching the opportunity crumble before your eyes. Sometimes it helps to just sit back and think about all the things God has done and is doing in your life. Thinking of all the time's He's answered my prayers and used me without me even realizing it at the time . . . wow, we really do serve and awesome God.

Yes, that always helps. God is an awesome God.
Where God has me right now is actually really interesting - because He has given me contentment, yet also at the same time a strong desire to be used even more to share His love.
God is doing some neat things.

Ben,

Really enjoyed these last two poems. In regards to the last one, I guess you can't win all the contests. ;-) I greatly enjoyed it, though!

This one...

was one of my favorite stanzas. Echoing much of what Grace said, and repeating some of what we've talked about, it's amazing to see God use you in the tiniest things- even changing diapers! But in the "mundane", it can be difficult to remember that it's really a part of a great plan- in our human desires to know everything NOW- what will this lead to? What will come out of this? What will I be doing X years from now? And so on...

Blessings,
~Brianna

Keeping that in mind is always important. Just because some ways of sharing Christ's love (changing diapers... :-) ) don't look as important or as big, Christ works in the small things as well as the big things. I think He calls us to be faithful in the small things before He calls us to the big; and often the smaller things still show more clearly how much we care.
