Across the Ocean
This is a new composition of a poem I wrote in 2001 after a friend that we had gotten close to stepped out of our lives.
Across the Ocean
A bed of sapphires meets the sky
As far as human eye can see;
No hint of your departure lingers,
Across the waves I see no green—
And yet I know you’re out there somewhere,
A heart that wandered far from home,
And now my heart is longing for you—
It traces every step you’ve roamed;
Content no longer to stand by,
I leap into my small canoe,
I’ll paddle to the sunset, friend,
If at the end I’ll row to you.
Across the Ocean
A bed of sapphires meets the sky
As far as human eye can see;
No hint of your departure lingers,
Across the waves I see no green—
And yet I know you’re out there somewhere,
A heart that wandered far from home,
And now my heart is longing for you—
It traces every step you’ve roamed;
Content no longer to stand by,
I leap into my small canoe,
I’ll paddle to the sunset, friend,
If at the end I’ll row to you.

I like it. =D
You REALLY have a gift with words, Ben! :-) Not only is your poetry well written, but used to beautifully convey great meanings.
God bless,
~Brianna
Thank you, Brianna. I just wish I had a gift with words in speech as well as on paper! But God is still working on me... :-)
Blessings,
Ben
