The Appointed Time
Many of the poems I have written I've actually written by faith more than by what is actually happening in my life. This is one of those poems, inspired by my friend, Joel. I look forward to what the year 2007 will bring...
The Appointed Time
A million prayers have built a staircase
That wound their way up to this day,
And NOW is the appointed time,
The fulfillment for what we have prayed;
What will we see when doors have opened?
What blissful glories meet the eye?
I know not what God shall reveal
But it surpasses all gone by—
In faith I reach the highest step,
In hope I knock upon the door—
God’s done amazing things already,
But now I wait for so much more…

And NOW is the appointed time,
The fulfillment for what we have prayed;
What will we see when doors have opened?
What blissful glories meet the eye?
I know not what God shall reveal
But it surpasses all gone by—

God’s done amazing things already,
But now I wait for so much more…

Wow, I'm honored. Your second stanza captures what I have left unsaid in many of my posts that has been on my heart.
1 Corinthians 2:9 "9 but just as it is written, "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM."
Matthew 11:15 "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
That has been one of several very very very reoccurring themes on my heart for the past weeks.

That has... ;-)
Ben, you may not realize this, but in the church circles I am in, 2007 has been prophesied as being the Year of the Open Door Rev 3:7; Is 22:22
It's really neat when you start seeing themes repeating themselves not only in the Body of Christ but in your personal life as well.
Eph 3:20 Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 unto Him [be] the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen!
LOL Joel your starting to sound like a Jew, repeating yourself for emphasis. ;-D

In context of last night's discussion with James (another friend of mine), this is hilarious.
We were talking about how Gentiles have been added through Christ to be joint heirs, and that this doesn't take away from the Jews, but rather.... just adds. Sadly, some Jews automatically start screaming "REPLACEMENT THEOLOGY" when they hear this, when in reality... we don't go that far, we just believe that the Gentiles have been added and are joint heirs. It's my belief that not a single Christian exists that cannot claim a spiritual heritage with the Jews. We might be a hired worker who comes late in the day, but we're still joint heirs in the faith and righteousness of Abraham.
I think it is really neat how as friends we can effect each other even though we live so far from each other... Joel, as you proclaimed through faith on your blog that you felt that God was going to do something amazing this year, I felt the Holy Spirit was convicting me of the same.
And yes, I could tell through blog that has been a reocurring themes on your heart. :)
Sarah, that Ephesians verse has been very encouraging to me over the past year of two. I think God is planning not on meeting our dreams, but exceeding them in ways we have never imagined.
May God bless both of you this year!

yeah it is really neat...
You know 1Cor2:9 started burning in my heart when you and Joel were commenting back and forth on my blog last week. I tried to respond but I was at a loss for words at the time... but the words - HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN - ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM. kept coming to mind. It hasn't entered our heart, we do not have present or past experience enough to determine let alone know what God has... and what I was saying was, DO NOT LIMIT GOD - because HE CAN and WILL do exceedingly and abundantly above ALL that we COULD ask or THINK! IT's not even entered our HEARTS! ALL that God will do. It's not that God wants us unable to comprehend, He wants us to come up to His level. That's why I was saying there are going to be people who love God and get to heaven and are blown away, and realize they did not give God the opprotunity, the honor, and the trust to allow God to be BIG in their lives, to do things beyond what their own hearts could concieve.
ok I'll stop preaching... but it's gotten down on the inside of me, it's become Rhema word to me. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE.

Amen! Our God is so amazing!

Yes! Something I realized is that each of us has a church. Not just a church building or even the people that meet in that building. No, we have a church that is unique to us.
I attend Southgate Christian Fellowship which has around 700 or so people, but my church has about 20 or so people from Southgate in it. Other people that are within my church are the members of GAW. Some more than others by way of IM or schedules. However, all of you are part of my church. I also have church that is separate from Sunday mornings. People I meet with Monday nights, Tuesday nights, and even Friday nights. They aren't always there on Sunday, nor even regularly attending Southgate. But they are part of my church. And at those times, those are my Sundays. Not to replace Sunday morning, but to add to it.
Internet or not, distance or not, blogs or not, we can have church. Because of limitations, we cannot and should not limit church to this (and none of us are in danger of doing that), but this is part of our church when we and God meet and are together. There might be a time difference, but just remember... asynchronous communication uses different time-scaling.

Don't stop too much or too soon. :-)
Can't and don't want to kill a Rhema word by stopping or stifling it, it's something that just has to find the right avenue out. :-D
