One Cup

Brianna and I have been praying a lot about how we might be able to share the love of Christ with those who are hurting around the world. This poem is an expression of both our feeling of insignificance and our determination to help as the Holy Spirit open doors.

One Cup

The sight of broken bodies tears my heart,
The smell of smoke inflames my nose,
The screams of anguish echo in my head,
Surrounded by so many woes…

What can I do to heal the shattered lives?
I cannot fight the tide alone!
I’d drown if I withstood the tragedy,
Lost amid the raging foam…

One cup of water is all that I have…
I know one cup can’t fight the tide,
But it can quench the thirst of one who’s hurting,
So I will bring it to his side;

Though one can’t make the fighting cease,
One can show the path of peace…

You already know that I really liked this one a lot, Ben, but I wanted to stop in anyway. :-) I'm glad you posted it here, and are continuing to use this to bless other people! I love you!
