Inexorable
“Nothing is inexorable but love. Love is one, and love is changeless. For love loves unto purity. Love ever has in view the absolute loveliness of that which it beholds. There is nothing more eternal but that which loves and can be loved, and love is ever climbing towards the consummation when such shall be the universe, imperishable, divine. Therefore, all that is not beautiful in the beloved, all that comes between and is not of love’s kind, must be destroyed.” —George MacDonald
Inexorable
To halt the stride of grace is like
Dethroning mountains with a stick;
To conquer love in all its power,
Is like blasting Rome with just a kick—
We can run into the night
But Father’s love will find us there;
We can hide within a cave
And be discovered by a prayer—
We cannot stop the flow of love
Just like we cannot stop the tide;
It’s just as foolish to try to stop the day
As it would be to run and hide—
Instead of trying to flee from love,
Will you surrender to His embrace?
You’ll find pure bliss in every day
Unwrapping gifts of grace…
