Finding an Open Gate
It is such a blessing to find people who are willing to open up their hearts to you. In this society where we tend to be afraid of making ourselves vulnerable because we have been hurt so often, finding someone who is willing to be vulnerable for the sake of friendship is like finding a treasure.
I believe that God meant for us to be open with each other, because He is fitting us together into a living Temple (Eph. 2, 1 Pet. 2). If we won't be open, how can we be fitted together?
Finding an Open Gate
You’ll never know how much it helped
To find at last an open gate;
I’ve found so many bolted doors,
While seeking Friendship Island’s shores,
And in the doldrums had to wait—
But meeting you, the winds have blown,
And I can see the distant land;
I enter in the open gate,
The hunger’s starting to abate
As I discover you a friend—
You’ll never know how much it helped
To find at last an open gate;
For here in friendship we have found
Eternal value as we’re bound:
We’re being built as God’s estate!
