Relief

For a friend...

Relief

I wish I had a healing balm
To soothe the burning barbs of pain
Which tear your heart and snag your spirit,
For my heart yearns to ease your hurt;

But somehow, though it all seems wrong,
God’s using it to make you strong…

I wish I had a miracle
That I could use to change your world;
But all I have is a heart of love,
And so I choose to pray for you;

Engulfed in peace, God answers prayer—
I know you’re safe in Father’s care…

That is an exceptionally meaningful poem. The first and third paragraphs mean a lot to me. I've been there, felt that, wished I could touch someone with a miracle and make all their pain go away . . . but all I can do is pray and try to encourage them, watch and wait. Somethings things don't get better overnight, but God is always working in the lives of those He loves. My prayers are heard. It's a great feeling when I am otherwise helpless . . .

Sometimes it's really hard to trust someone you love to God's care, isn't it? But . . . watching God work in that person's live is an amazing thing.

Yes, it can be so hard to leave it to Father to take care of someone you love, but it helps to remember that in His arms is the best possible place for that person to be...
