Speak To Me

This is another autumn poem, using the same basic ideas in "The Flame of Sacrifice", but written from a different perspective.

Speak To Me

Who would have thought that death could be
So beautiful in sacrifice?
But all I see are scalding flames
And through it love’s most bitter price…

I can’t see the flash of color
For all I comprehend is pain—
You see what love has given me,
Though I have thought ’twas all in vain…

When all is bare—my heart has died—
Come speak to me of all the hues
That love has shown in all its pain,
Since Christ has shown the path I choose;

Remind me of the endless blessings
That loving sacrifice will bring,
Then finally, when time is right,
Come speak to me of spring…
