Bubbles
We build metropolises in bubbles
Where we invent the rules,
Pretending the sun revolves ’round us,
And wealth is won by fools.
The sky looks pretty, in our box,
It shimmers like a gem;
And we are happy in the safety
We find inside our dream—
But when the bubble finally pops
We’re bathed in harsh surprise—
The sun is shining, but he’s a foe
To unaccustomed eyes.

And wealth is won by fools.
The sky looks pretty, in our box,
It shimmers like a gem;
And we are happy in the safety
We find inside our dream—
But when the bubble finally pops
We’re bathed in harsh surprise—
The sun is shining, but he’s a foe
To unaccustomed eyes.
